About Kassia

About KassiaHi, I am Kassia (She/Her) – welcome to my bio!

Welcome to your bravery and courage to heal. I am glad you are here.

My intentions for our work together will be collaborative, strength-based, and centered around you, the client. Your goals are my goals. Understanding the values and commitments that inspire those goals will allow us to build new bridges, optimizing your healthiest journey in this thing called “life.”

One of my favorite quotes is, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Let’s DANCE!

Together, we can chart the landscape of the things you are up against and how they operate in your life so you can make healthy, authentic decisions and choices. Problems or barriers do not always go away, but they can be shifted; the way we relate to them can contribute to rich and meaningful living.

Understanding our own stories and the stories we tell ourselves helps shape our realities. Together, we will learn about your journey and stories that shaped the life you live.

We will be brave together and make the life you desire to become very present in your day-to-day experiences. I provide short- and long-term psychotherapy and supportive counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Some things clients see me for include difficulty managing substance use/abuse/addiction, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and chronic illness (e.g., HIV, cancer). I specialize in treating trauma.

Here’s a little about my training and expertise.

I received my Master of Social Work from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I have training in modalities that include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused and Problem-Solving approaches.

My specific additional training in interventions includes the following: Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Trauma-Informed, Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My strength-based approaches also integrate theories such as Psychodynamic and Rational Choice.

Hey Lady! Who are YOU, though?

I am an OMNI mom of two amazing teen children.

My immediate amazing family unit and friendship circles are a beautiful combination of humans who identify as LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Sex Positive, among many other amazing qualities. We love, LOVE!

My own ethnicity is a combination of several backgrounds. Those include First Nation Algonquin, Kashubian, German, English, Egyptian, and a few other sprinkles of flavor that DNA ancestry has not yet identified.

I love to travel to warm climates with beautiful beaches. Watching sunsets is one of my favorite ways to stay present and remember the gifts of strength and courage I gave myself as a survivor.

I did not just decide one day to become a therapist; for me, it was a calling. I value authenticity and autonomy. I believe in the power of being connected. I wear masks when needed or requested, and my favorite shirt has RBG on the front. I am unapologetic in advocating for my clients and fiercely protecting the privacy of anyone I treat.

I am a good balance between showing up with warmth and compassion and spice to promote passion for you to become the healthiest version of yourself.
